Installation of linoleum floors

In order to achieve the perfect floor, Forbo offers an assortment of high quality installation products and tools, which help you obtain the desired result. Key factors for successful installation of a floor are:

Subfloor preparation
The installation of a floor starts with the subfloor, which must be rigid, smooth and permanently dry. Forbo offers a range of suitable products and primers to prepare the adhesion of levelling screed.

Installation plan
Allow all materials to acclimatise for at least one night before installation. Forbo offers specially designed installation tools for transportation and unrolling, such as the Forbocar or the Forbo Carryset.

Scribing and cutting
A good start makes all the difference: pay extra attention to the first sheet of floor covering. A set of professional installation tools contributes to a perfect result.

Adhering
A perfectly installed floor requires perfect adhesion. Within the Forbo Eurostar/Eurosafe range, high quality adhesives for every type and situation are available. Lay the sheet onto the wet adhesive bed and press it firmly into place, paying particular attention to the end of the sheet. Remove any excess adhesive. After installation, make sure that the room is ventilated, in order to allow the adhesive to dry. Preferably do not use or load a freshly installed floor until the adhesive has set thoroughly, which in normal conditions takes about two days.

Welding
Welding is done for decorative and/or hygienic reasons. After the adhesive has set sufficiently, which usually takes a day, the floor can be welded by means of Forbo’s patented welding system.

Finishing
To ensure a professional end result, Forbo can provide a range of skirtings, stairnosings and transition profiles in various materials .
